A Memorable Start: Upset Against Morgan Stanley

Right from Round 1, Parishkaar faced the top-seeded team, Morgan Stanley. Despite the tough pairing, our team rose to the occasion.

Our very own Zalan produced one of the biggest upsets of the tournament — he defeated Grandmaster Joshua Sheng from Morgan Stanley!

Take a look at this remarkable game where Zalan showed composure and precision to outplay a GM:

Stephen – The Unbeaten Scorer

Our board 3, Stephen, was our most consistent and impressive performer! Displaying exceptional resourcefulness and calm under pressure, he finished unbeaten with an impressive 6/7 points, making him our top scorer.

Here’s one of Stephen’s clean wins. In this position, which move would give White a greater advantage — Nxb7 to grab the pawn, or Bxc6 to exchange the bishop pair?

Tarun – Solid at the Top Board

On board 1, Tarun continued to be a reliable and solid performer for the team. Holding his own against strong opposition, he contributed crucial points that anchored Parishkaar’s success.

Check out this wild game where Tarun was a piece down but managed to salvage a half point.

Trisha – Steady on Board 4

On board 4, Trisha kept the team’s momentum going with solid play.

A well-known trap: how should White play to win a pawn?
